Airbus A350-900, registered F-WXWB, became the first flying prototype of the A350 XWB family. The aircraft made the type's historic maiden flight from Toulouse on June 14, 2013, beginning an extensive certification campaign involving several test aircraft. Powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines, F-WXWB was used to evaluate handling qualities, aerodynamics, systems, performance, and other aspects of the new composite widebody. Its distinctive Airbus test livery made it one of the most recognizable development aircraft of its era. The A350 subsequently entered airline service in 2015 and became one of Airbus' principal long range airliners.
