Airbus A330-900, registered F-WTTE, has been used by Airbus in connection with the A330neo program. The A330-900 is the larger member of the re-engined A330neo family and combines the proven A330 airframe with new aerodynamic refinements and Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines. Airbus development aircraft have been used for certification flying, performance evaluation, systems testing, and customer demonstrations before production examples enter airline service. The A330-900 offers increased range and substantially improved fuel efficiency compared with earlier A330 variants while retaining the type's popular widebody cabin and substantial underfloor cargo capacity.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport to compete with the Boeing 767, the A330 was first flown on November 2nd, 1992. It was designed as a lengthened version of the A300 and was developed in parallel with the larger, four-engined A340, enabling many of the components to be shared between the three types. The A330 also uses the same fly-by-wire technology that was introduced with the A320, featuring a glass cockpit and side-stick controllers. The A330 has the same range and payload capacity as a DC-10 with 25% greater fuel efficiency. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
