Airbus A320-232, operated by Air China as B-8743. The aircraft joined Air China's extensive narrowbody fleet for domestic and regional international services. Powered by two International Aero Engines V2500 turbofans, the A320 provides an efficient combination of passenger capacity, range, and dependable short and medium haul performance. B-8743 has operated from Air China bases including Beijing and Hangzhou, linking major Chinese cities and regional destinations. The aircraft remains active in 2026 and continues to complement the airline's newer A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX fleets while serving the dense domestic network that forms an important part of Air China's operations.
Designed as a short/medium range narrow-body airliner to compete with the Boeing 737, the Airbus A320 was first flown on February 22nd, 1987. The A320 features side stick controllers and glass cockpit and was the world's first airliner to use use a digital fly-by-wire control system. Controversially, the software includes "flight envelope protection" to prevent the pilot from exceeding safe flight parameters. The highly successful design rapidly led to the development of the shortened-fuselage A318 and A319, and lengthened-fuselage A321 derivatives. More than 4,500 of the A320 family have been produced, almost all of which are still in active service. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
