Boeing 777-39L(ER), operated by Air China as B-7973. The aircraft joined Air China's flagship long haul fleet for high-capacity domestic and intercontinental services from Beijing. Powered by two General Electric GE90-115B engines, the 777-300ER combines exceptional range, payload capability, and reliability with substantial passenger and belly-cargo capacity. B-7973 remains active in 2026 and is regularly deployed on demanding international routes, including services between Beijing and major European destinations, as well as busy domestic sectors. The 777-300ER continues to be one of Air China's principal aircraft for its longest and highest-demand passenger routes.
Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to compete with the Airbus A330/A340 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11, the 777 was first flown on June 12th, 1994. A pair of the world's largest diameter turbofan engines power the aircraft which currently holds the record for world's largest twin-engined airliner. The 777 was Boeing's first fly-by-wire airliner, featuring complete glass cockpit displays and flight envelope protection.
