PLAAF, B-4025

Boeing 767-300ER   10.75"   9.25"

Boeing 767-3Q8ER, operated by the People's Liberation Army Air Force as B-4025. Acquired through China United Airlines for use as a Chinese government VIP transport, the aircraft became internationally notable after electronic surveillance devices were reportedly discovered aboard it before it entered presidential service. The twin-engine 767 offered long range, widebody comfort, and substantially lower operating costs than older four-engine transports. Powered by General Electric CF6 turbofans, B-4025 was associated with the PLAAF's 34th Air Transport Division and represented an unusual military application of Boeing's successful commercial 767-300ER airliner.

Boeing 767-300ER

Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to fill the niche between the narrow-bodied 707 and wide-bodied 747, the 767 was first flown on September 26th, 1981. Developed in tandem with the narrow-bodied 757 twinjet, both aircraft share a common digital cockpit layout and are operated by a two man flight crew. Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 767 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes. With more than 1000 aircraft produced, the 767 is the second most prolific wide-bodied airliner after the 747.
