Boeing 737-800, registration G-OXLA, associated with British Airways branding. Unlike the airline's historic Boeing 737-200, -300 and -400 fleets, British Airways itself has not operated the 737-800 as part of its normal mainline fleet. The G-OXLA identity therefore warrants care when describing the aircraft as a regular British Airways airframe. The 737-800 is the most widely produced member of Boeing's 737 Next Generation family, powered by CFM56-7B engines and typically carrying around 160-189 passengers. It became one of the world's most successful short- and medium-haul airliners. Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967.
