Boeing 737-2K2(Adv), registered OO-TEK, flew for TEA (Trans European Airways), a Belgian charter carrier, as part of the airline's fleet of 737-200s supporting leisure charter routes connecting Belgium to European holiday destinations. TEA built a substantial charter operation during the 1970s and 1980s before the airline's eventual 1991 collapse amid financial difficulties. As part of this historic fleet, OO-TEK supported TEA's charter operations during the carrier's years of service in the competitive European leisure travel market before the airline's closure.

Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967. Over its long operational carreer, the 737 has spawned numerous variants ranging in capacity from less than 100 to more than 200 seats. In fact, the 737 series is the best-selling jetliner in aviation history with more than 6,500 aircraft manufactured to date and more than 4,500 still in service with over 500 airlines around the world.
