Airbus A321-111, registered HB-IOE, flew for Swissair as part of the Swiss flag carrier's fleet of A321s supporting short and medium-haul European routes from Zurich before Swissair's dramatic 2001-2002 collapse, once known as the "Flying Bank" for its reputation of financial stability. Swissair built a substantial Airbus narrowbody fleet during the 1990s to modernize its short-haul European network. As part of this historic fleet, HB-IOE supported Swissair's European operations during the carrier's final years before its restructuring into Swiss International Air Lines.
