Boeing 707, registered SU-APD, flew for Egyptair as part of the Egyptian flag carrier's early jet fleet supporting international routes from Cairo during the 1960s and 1970s. Egyptair, founded in 1932 as Misrair and one of the oldest airlines in Africa and the Middle East, became the first African or Middle Eastern carrier to operate a jet aircraft when it introduced the de Havilland Comet IV in 1960, later expanding its jet fleet with 707s like SU-APD to support the airline's growing international network connecting Egypt to Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Designed as the first American turbine-engined airliner, the 707 was first flown on July 15th, 1954.
