The BAC One-Eleven was a British short-haul jet airliner that British Airways inherited through its 1974 formation from the merger of BOAC and BEA, both of which had operated the type extensively on European short-haul routes. British Airways continued flying the One-Eleven for years after the merger before the type's eventual retirement in favor of newer Boeing and Airbus narrowbodies. As part of this inherited fleet, the aircraft supported British Airways' short-haul European network during the carrier's early years as a unified flag carrier following the historic 1974 merger.
