Sud Aviation Caravelle, registered PP-VJC, flew for VARIG, the Brazilian flag carrier, as part of the airline's early fleet of French-built jets supporting domestic Brazilian and regional South American routes. VARIG, once one of Latin America's largest and most prestigious airlines, used the Caravelle to modernize its short and medium-haul network during the 1960s before the carrier's later fleet expansion with Boeing aircraft for both domestic and international long-haul operations.
