Boeing 707-321, registered G-AYXR, flew for Syrian Arab Airlines, Syria's flag carrier, though the British registration prefix suggests the aircraft was leased from a UK-based operator. Syrian Arab Airlines relied on leased Western-built widebody-adjacent aircraft like the 707 to establish long-haul international connections from Damascus during the 1970s, a period when the carrier built out its network connecting Syria to Europe and other Middle Eastern destinations.
