McDonnell Douglas DC-8-54F, registered N808CK, flew for Kalitta Air as part of the Michigan-based cargo carrier's fleet of converted DC-8 freighters supporting domestic and international cargo operations. Kalitta Air, founded by drag racer and businessman Connie Kalitta, built its cargo business around converted DC-8 and 727 freighters, growing into a significant charter and contract cargo operator serving automotive manufacturers, the U.S. military, and general air freight customers.
