McDonnell Douglas DC-8-61, registered C-GMXD, flew for Nationair, the Canadian charter airline that operated a substantial fleet of DC-8s supporting leisure and charter routes connecting Canada to international vacation destinations. Nationair built its business around charter flying before the airline's operations ended in 1993 following the loss of its operating certificate after a serious tire-related accident in Saudi Arabia the previous year. As part of this historic fleet, C-GMXD supported Nationair's charter operations during the airline's years of Canadian and international leisure travel service.

Douglas DC-8-61

Designed to compete with the Boeing 707, the DC-8 was first flown on May 30th, 1958.
