McDonnell Douglas DC-8-61, registered 5N-HAS (a Nigerian registration, suggesting a lease arrangement), flew for Pluna, the Uruguayan flag carrier, as part of the airline's fleet of stretched DC-8s supporting long-haul international routes connecting Uruguay to destinations across South America and beyond. Pluna operated as Uruguay's national carrier for decades through multiple periods of financial restructuring before its eventual 2012 closure.
