Curtiss C-46 Commando, registered CU-T583, flew for Aerovias Q, a Cuban airline operating the rugged twin-engine transport originally developed for World War II military cargo operations before its widespread adoption by civilian carriers across Latin America and the Caribbean. The C-46's capacious cargo hold and reliable performance made it popular for regional cargo and passenger operations throughout the region during the postwar decades. As part of Aerovias Q's fleet, CU-T583 supported the airline's Cuban domestic and regional Caribbean operations during the type's peak service years.
Designed as a twin-engine transport comparable to the Douglas C-47, the C-46 was first flown on March 26th, 1940. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
