Boeing 720-060B, registered ET-ABP, flew for Ethiopian Airlines as part of the East African flag carrier's fleet of 720Bs supporting regional African routes and international connections from Addis Ababa during the 1960s and 1970s. Ethiopian Airlines was an early African adopter of jet aircraft, using the 720B to modernize its network connecting Ethiopia to destinations across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. As part of this historic fleet, ET-ABP supported Ethiopian's emergence as one of Africa's most significant international carriers during the early jet age, a role the airline continues to hold today.
