McDonnell Douglas DC-8-54F, registered 9Q-CLV, flew for Air Zaire Cargo as part of the carrier's fleet of freighter-configured DC-8s supporting cargo operations connecting Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo) to international logistics markets. Air Zaire struggled financially through the 1990s, with its fleet dwindling to just a handful of aircraft before the airline's collapse in June 1995 under massive debts. As part of this declining fleet, 9Q-CLV represented Air Zaire's cargo operations during the carrier's final years before its ultimate closure amid the broader political and economic turmoil affecting Zaire in the mid-1990s.
Designed to compete with the Boeing 707, the DC-8 was first flown on May 30th, 1958. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
