Boeing 720-040B, registered AP-AXL, flew for Pakistan International Airlines as part of the carrier's fleet of 720s supporting regional and medium-haul international routes from Karachi during the 1960s and 1970s. PIA was among the early Asian jet operators, using the 720's shorter-range capability to complement its longer-range 707 fleet on routes across the Middle East and South Asia. As part of this historic fleet, AP-AXL supported PIA's role as one of Asia's pioneering flag carriers during the early jet age.
Designed as the first American turbine-engined airliner, the 707 was first flown on July 15th, 1954.
