The German 3-Ton Cargo Truck was the workhorse of the German Army, with nearly 140,000 of them produced by Opel, these legendary German light trucks were used extensively throughout Europe from mid 1930s and throughout WWII and beyond. Reliable and easy to repair, the Cargo Truck was a multi-purpose backbone vehicle for the German army that became a beloved symbol of its success.
Designed as a series of light and middle-weight trucks for various civilian and military purposes, the Opel Blitz was produced between 1930 and 1975 but is best known for its role in WWII. This 3-ton workhorse served in all German theatres; it carried troops and supplies and was also used as a service vehicle for the Messerschmitt Me 323. This truck's history is somewhat controversial because of the role GM played in its development-at the time, Opel was a subsidiary of the American manufacturer.
