The most produced German armored vehicle of WW2, the "Stug III" was built on a Panzer tank chassis. Originally, this assault gun was created to support infantry maneuvers, but it was continually modified during the war and eventually found its most notable role in that of a tank destroyer.
Originally designed as a mobile, light gun to provide close infantry support, the StuG III first entered service in 1940. Early models were armed with a modest, low-velocity 75mm StuK 37 L/24 gun, but by the Spring of 1942 the Germans had modified the StuG III with a higher velocity StuK 40 L/43 gun so that it was a better match for Soviet KV-1 and T-34 tanks. The new configuration quickly proved to be an exceptionally effective tank destroyer--cost effective, easily camouflaged and difficult to target. By the spring of 1944, StuG IIIs were responsible for destroying some 20,000 Allied tanks. © Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc.
Forces of Valor's 1:32 scale StuG III Ausf. G tank destroyer has an upper hull and low silhouette gun casement that are constructed of diecast metal. Battle damaged fenders, visible weld seams and opening crew hatches are among the fine details you'll find on this model. There is a movable shield on one side and a pivoting metal gun that swings slightly to the left and right. On the underside are detailed maintenance access panels and a track system with active suspension and a pair of weathered rolling rubber tracks that spin in unison. Separately applied battlefield equipment is included for a variety of display options.
