The Mil Mi-24 (NATO reporting name: Hind) is a large helicopter gunship, attack helicopter and low-capacity troop transport with room for eight passengers. It is produced by Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant and has been operated since 1972 by the Soviet Air Force and its successors, along with more than 30 other nations. Designed as an attack helicopter gunship, the Mi-24 was first flown on September 19th, 1969. It features a distinctive tandem cockpit and is heavily armed with a combination of machine guns, rockets, and missiles, making it effective for both combat and troop transport roles. The Mi-24 can carry eight soldiers in addition to its armament, offering versatility in various military operations. Known for its speed and durability, the Hind has seen extensive use in numerous conflicts worldwide, earning a reputation as a formidable combat helicopter.
