Bell H-13 Sioux | | 6.5" | | 5.5" | Originally designed as a single engine, light helicopter for use by civilians, the Bell H-13 Sioux first flew on December 8, 1945 as the Bell 47 prototype. Later redesignated H-13 by the United States Army Air Forces, the improved aircraft was used as an observation and basic training helicopter. The design is characterized by a full bubble canopy, skid landing gear and welded-tube tail boom. It has two high-level mounted saddle fuel tanks and a two bladed single rotor. The H-13 was immortalized by the long-running television show M.A.S.H., where it was portrayed in its role as a medevac aircraft. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
